1. 4G LTE - iPad 3 Release Date 2012: Top Exciting Features Guaranteed in New Apple Tablet
Mobile chipset maker Qualcomm has unveiled its fifth generation Gobi platform on Wednesday, which guarantees 4G LTE option in the upcoming iPad 3.
The new technology is based on its Gobi 4G LTE wireless baseband modems - MDM9615 and MDM9215 - that will support LTE, TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA and TDD networks. Moreover, it also backward compatible with HSPA and Rev. EV-DO networks, along with having GPS capability. Not surprisingly, Qualcomm said the Gobi will be compatible with top mobile operating systems , including Android, Windows and Apple iOS, according to the company's press release.
There are persistent rumors suggesting the iPad will have 4G LTE for sure. Apple always tries to ensure that it secure its dominance in the increasingly competitive tablet market. However, the arrival of some of the rival Android tablets, such as Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Motorola Droid Xyboard, and more, which already support 4G network, threatens to make Apple's existing iPad 2, which only has a 3G option, look outmoded.
The fifth generation Gobi platform, however, has swept away the last obstacle for Apple to support 4G LTE in the new iPad. “Our Gobi fifth generation reference platform helps ensure that OEMs can develop products across their choice of operating systems and hardware platforms to meet the growing demand for mobile connectivity,” senior director of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, Fram Akiki, said.

Retina Display has been confirmed in the iPad 3 by many media. MacRumors claimed that it has secured a purported LCD panel of the new iPad.

“When comparing the iPad 3 display to one from an iPad 2 under a microscope, the difference in resolutions becomes readily apparent, with the iPad 3 display's pixels appearing to be one-quarter the size of those on the iPad 2,” the site reported.
Each cluster in the iPad 3 panel was occupied by 16 pixels (4x4), whereas each cluster in the iPad 2's comprised of 4 pixels (2x2). This is to say the purported iPad 3 panel boasts of “twice the resolution in each direction.”
The Taiwan-based blog Apple.pro, which posted a photo of the alleged iPad 3's Front Glass Panel on Tuesday, confirmed again the iPad 3 will have Retina Display, citing Chinese Sina Weibo - the equivalent of Twitter.
